How to prepare for JAM Exam
JAM is different compared to other PG exams. The emphasis is on the basics. The study in the exam subject should start with these. For this, lower-class textbooks should be read in part. Then focus on degree-level books.
Questions are designed to examine the candidate’s broad understanding of the subject. These questions are not asked directly. Many items are added and made into a question. Questions will come to test understanding, application, analysis, and knowledge of the subjects. Hence a comprehensive study is mandatory. You can give a correct answer only if you have a full understanding.
In the subject for which you want to write the exam, read the intertextual books thoroughly. After that focus should be on the degree curriculum. The details of the subject syllabus are included on the Jam website. Go through them and study the topics in the textbooks according to that priority. If the topics mentioned in the syllabus are not covered in the textbook then reference books should be consulted.
Past questions are useful as a guide in preparation. From these, one can know the type of questions, the priority given in the examination of the subjects in the relevant subjects, and the level of the questions. This will make it clear what to read and how to prepare. Awareness can be created on the exam. Old question papers are embedded in the website for awareness.
After completing the study, practice as many sample papers as possible starting one month before the exam. The results of these should be reviewed and preparedness improved. A few days before the exams, the mock text will be placed on the JAM website. Writing it can give you an idea of how the exam will be.
