Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is the best way to get BA and BTech degree along with a job. A stipend of Rs 56,000 per month can be drawn if selected for training in the three forces after passing the examination conducted by UPSC. After completion of training, one can get a Bachelor’s degree certificate along with a measure with permanent commission rank status. Recently the application process for NDA, NA(1)-2023 has started. UPSC Full Description-Union Public Service Commission(UPSC). SSB conducts the NDA and NA examination twice every year after passing the NDA and NA examination and then the SSB which is conducted separately by the Military Academy, Naval Academy, and Air Force Academy.

UPSC Selection process

A two-stage selection process will be conducted for NDA and NA. The selection process is through written tests and SSB. In the first phase, UPSC will conduct NDA and NA written exams. Based on the merit shown in this, candidates will be considered for the priorities mentioned at the time of application. Thus the merit list will be prepared.

Three years of training

Training is for three years at National Defense Academy-Pune. For the first two and a half years, candidates of all departments are trained in common. In the last six months, there will be physical training based on the department chosen by the candidates. BA, BSc, and BSc (Computer Science) degrees are offered from JNU-Delhi based on the completion of three years of training. Those who opt for Airforce and Naval branches first have the opportunity to study B.Tech. They should inform about this in advance.

Training, Degree Certificate

Candidates who are successful in both the selection stages and are on the final list will undergo training at the National Defense Academy and Naval Academies. National Defense Academy in Pune and Naval Academy candidates are trained in Naval Academy in Azhimala for Army, Air Force, and Navy departments. Candidates have to mention the departments in which they are interested in the order of preference at the time of application. A four-year degree can be obtained in this way.

Total No. of Posts

A total of 395 vacancies will be filled in National Defense Academy and National Academies through NDA, NA(1)-2023 selection process. As part of the National Defense Academy, separate vacancies have been announced for Army, Navy, and Air Force. There are 208 Vacancies in Army Branch, 42 Vacancies in the Navy, 92 Vacancies in Air Force Flying Branch, 18 Vacancies in Air Force Ground Duty (Technical), and 10 Vacancies in Air Force Ground Duty (Non-Technical). UPSC Qualifications

Army Wing: Intermediate pass in any group.

Airforce, Navy, Naval Academy: Intermediate pass in Maths, Physics subjects. Second-year students can also apply. They have to provide certificates by 24 December 2023. The candidates’ ages should be between 02/07/2004 and 01/07/2007.

First written test

In the selection process of NDA and NA, the first stage of the written test will be conducted in two papers for a total of 900 marks. Paper 1 Mathematics is for 300 marks and Paper 2 General Ability Test is for 600 marks. The duration of each paper exam is two and a half hours. The exam will be in objective mode with multiple-choice questions. Paper 2 conducts a General Ability Test named Part-A with 200 marks of questions exclusively from the English section. Part B will be conducted under the name of the General Knowledge Section. Part B carries 400 marks.

Paper-2 Part-B will be conducted for 400 marks. This will ask questions from all six sections (Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History, Indian Independence, Geography, and Current Events). Vegetation is specifically mentioned for each segment. 25% for Physics, 15% for Chemistry, 10% for General Science, 20% for History, 20% for the Independence of India, 20% for Geography, and 10% for Current Events. According to this weightage, the number of questions and marks are there in the respective sections. Those who secure the prescribed cut-off marks in Paper-1 and Paper-2 will be declared as the winners.

SSB Selection Process

SSB test/interview will be conducted for 900 marks for the candidates who have passed the written exam of NDA and NA.
Candidates will also have to pass the Intelligence and Personality Test conducted by SSB (Services Selection Board) under the direction of the designated department based on the merit obtained in the written test as mentioned at the time of application.
Candidates who have selected the Airforce branch first will also have to succeed in the computerized pilot selection system conducted after the SSB. As part of the SSB selection process, the mental and physical fitness of the candidates is examined. Intelligence tests, verbal tests, non-verbal tests, social awareness, and logical analysis skills are tested. Similarly, Picture Perception and Description Test will be conducted and this process will last for five days. In this too, the finalists are primarily trained in National Defense Academy-Pune and Naval Academy (Azhimala).

How to be successful

To score good marks in Paper 1, one should master Algebra, Matrix and Determinants, Analytical Geometry, Integral Calculus, Differential Equations, Vector Algebra, Statistics, Probability, and Trigonometry. For this one should study intermediate-level books, similarly writing practice tests and mock tests is also good. Basic principles, various theories, principles, and formulas should be mastered. Practice should be given high priority.

Basic English Grammar, Vocabulary, and Reading Comprehension should be mastered in Paper 2. General knowledge, physics, chemistry, general science, history-Indian independence, geography, and current affairs should be thoroughly understood. A preparation plan should be made based on the old question papers and the weightage given to the respective sections.
