Passport- A passport is an official document issued by the government. It serves as a form of identification of the individual and allows individuals to travel internationally. A passport contains information about the person such as name, date of birth, nationality, and photographs. These are used to confirm a person’s citizenship. Now let’s know the steps to apply for a passport in India.
Visit the Passport Service website
First, visit Passport Seva official website. Click on the “New User Registration” button to create an account.
Application Form
Fill out the passport application form online with all required details like your personal details, address, educational qualification, job, and other details. Then make sure to fill the form accurately. Double-check the form for any mistakes as a precaution.
Pay the application fee
After you fill out the application form with all the details, you have to pay the passport application fee. Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card, or SBI Bank Challan can be used to pay the fee.
Schedule an appointment
After completing the application and making the payment, schedule an appointment at the nearest Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) to submit your documents and biometric details. You will be given an appointment date and time after scheduling.
Visit PSK/POPSK
Visit the PSK/POPSK on the appointed date and time for obtaining the passport. Carry all original documents along with photocopy of each. Documents required for a passport include proof of identity, address, and date of birth.
Biometric details should be submitted
In PSK/POPSK, you need to provide your biometric details like fingerprints, photographs, and signatures.
Collect your passport
After submitting all documents and biometric details, your passport will be processed. Once it is ready, you will receive a notification to collect your passport from PSK/POPSK. Be sure to bring the receipt given to you at the time of your appointment.
