The Central Department of Higher Education has released a notification to apply for the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme for college and university students. There are 82,000 scholarships across India. Half of these scholarships are allotted to women. This scholarship is intended to provide financial security to students belonging to families of low economic status.

Central sector scholarship eligibility

Must have completed Inter/XII/Equivalent course with minimum 80% marks from a recognized board. Should have taken admission in Degree/PG courses in Colleges/Universities recognized by AICTE/Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India. Those enrolled in distance education and correspondence courses; diploma candidates; those receiving other scholarship/fee reimbursement facilities are not eligible to apply. Annual family income should not exceed four and a half lakhs.

Scholarship Award

This scholarship is provided for up to 5 years per student. Every year from degree to PG one has to undergo renewal. 10,000 rupees yearly for three years at the degree ee level and 20,000 rupees yearly at the PG level for two years. 10,000 rupees per annum for the first three years and 20,000 rupees for the final year for those enrolled in BE/BTech courses.
