JEE Main Notification 2023
National Testing Agency-Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2023 notification has been released. NITs, IITs, and Centrally Funded Technical Institutions offer admissions in BE/BTech based on the rank obtained in this examination. Only the first 2,50,000 candidates are allowed to write JEE Advanced based on the merit obtained in this examination. Admissions to IITs across the country are combined according to the merit achieved in Advanced.
JEE Main exam is conducted in two phases. The first phase examination will be conducted in January 2023 and the second phase examination will be conducted in April. JEE Main exam is conducted in 13 regional languages including English, Hindi, Telugu, and Urdu.
JEE Eligibility
Must have passed Inter/XII from a recognized board with Mathematics, and Chemistry as main subjects. Those who have studied Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational Subjects instead of Chemistry can also apply. Those who have completed Inter/equivalent courses in the years 2021,2022 as well as those who are currently appearing for Inter final year exams can apply.
Candidates appearing in the final year of the Joint Services Wing examination from the National Defense Academy; Senior Secondary School Examination pass with minimum 5 subjects from the National Institute of Open Schooling can apply.
Candidates who have completed inter-level courses from AIU-recognized foreign institutes/boards, three years diploma from AICTE-recognized institutes, passed Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination, passed the Advanced A Level General Certificate Education Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) can also apply. 75% marks for General candidates and 65% marks for SC and ST candidates are required at Inter level.
JEE Main 2023 Details
JEE exam is conducted in computer-based mode. It consists of two papers. The first paper is conducted for admission to B.E./BTech programs and the second paper is conducted for B.Arch/B Planning admissions. The duration of the exam is three hours and each question carries four marks. 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
B.E. /BTech
For B.E. /BTech candidates there will be a paper of 300 marks. In this, questions are asked from Maths, Physics, and Chemistry subjects. Each subject has two sections A and B. Section-A will ask 20 multiple-choice questions. Answers to all the questions have to be marked. 10 questions will be given in Section-B. 5 of these questions should be answered.
B.Arch and B planning
The exam paper will be 400 marks for B.Arch and B planning candidates. Paper is different for them. It has three parts. The first two parts will be B. Arch and B planning candidates will be given questions from Common and Mathematics subjects in the first part. 100 marks are allotted for this. In the second part, there will be an aptitude test. 50 questions will be given in this. 200 marks were allotted for this. The third part will be 100 marks. It includes drawing tests for B.Arch candidates. Two questions are given. The drawing test is conducted in pen and paper mode. B Planning candidates will be given 25 questions from relevant topics. Multiple-choice questions are asked in everything except drawing. The duration of the exam is three and a half hours and there will be negative marks.
JEE application fee: 1000 rupees for men, 800 rupees for women in the general category; 500 rupees for disabled, SC, and ST candidates; two papers have to be written which means they have to pay double the fee.
