National Institute of Fashion Technology
The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has released a notification for admission to undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. Admissions are given through an entrance test and personal interviews. 18 campuses are available across India including Hyderabad and Bangalore.National Institute of Fashion Technology.
Bachelor of Design (B. Design)
The duration of the program is four years and includes the disciplines of Fashion Design, Leather Design, Accessory Design, Textile Design, Knitwear Design, and Fashion Communication.
Eligibility: Passed Inter/Twelfth/Equivalent Course from a recognized Board. Senior Secondary School Examination with minimum 5 subjects from National Open School; Inter Level Course from a School/Board/University recognized by Association of Indian Universities; Candidates who have passed Advanced Level General Certificate of Education Examination can also apply. The age of students should not exceed 24 years as on 01 August 2023.
Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.tech)
The duration of the program is four years. There is a clothing manufacturing department.
Eligibility
Must have passed Inter/XII/equivalent courses with Mathematics and Physics as main subjects from a recognized board. Passed Senior Secondary School Examination with at least 5 subjects including Mathematics and Physics from National Open School; Passed Inter Level Examination with Maths and Physics subjects from AIU recognized Institute/Board; Those who have passed Advanced Level BCE (Maths, Physics) can also apply. Candidate’s age should not exceed 24 years as on 01 August 2023.
PG Programmes
There are Master of Design, Master of Fashion Management, and Master of Fashion Technology programs. The duration of each program is two years.
Eligibility: Any degree pass from a university recognized for admission to M Design, MFM programs; a Diploma pass from NIFT with a duration of three years can be applied for. B.F.Tech pass-outs from NIFT can apply for the M.F.Tech program. No age limit.
National Institute of Fashion Technology Entrance Exam
It consists of General Ability Test and Creative Ability Test.
General Ability Test
It is an objective test, conducted in English and Hindi medium. There will be negative marks. A quarter mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
Creative Ability Test
For designing courses, the student’s creativity is tested through a creative ability test, followed by a poster presentation.
Ph.D. from the National Institute of Fashion Technology
Research can be done in textile, fashion, apparel, craft, design, management, and technology disciplines. Full-time and part-time positions are available. The duration of the full-time program is four years. The duration of the part-time program is 6 years.
Eligibility: Must have completed a Master’s Degree in Design, Management, or Technology. Candidates with at least 10 years of professional experience in these disciplines can also apply.
Candidates with a Master’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of teaching/professional experience, UGC NET/SEED valid score/CSR JRF eligible candidates need not appear for the entrance test.
Fellowship
Candidates enrolled in the full-time program will receive Rs. per month for the first two years. 31,000 and in the last two years Rs. 35,000 fellowships will be awarded. HRA of Rs.7,000 per month is given. 20,000 per annum under a contingency grant.
Last date for online application: December 31 for a degree, PG programs; February 20, 2023,a Ph.D. for program
Application Fee: INR 3,000 for General, OBC, and EWS candidates; 1500 for PwD, SC, and ST candidates.
